Our on demand scenic flights operate daily around the beautiful Lake Taupo region including the Tongariro World Heritage Park.

Huka By Helicopter - 10 minutes

A great introductory flight for those wanting to see Taupo's beauty from the air. Showcasing the famous Huka Falls we then fly over the Lake Taupo boat harbour where you can admire the crystal clear water of the Waikato River before returning to the Helistar Flight Centre via the thermal Wairakei Park - a great flight for kids!

Taste of Taupo - 30 minutes

This is our most popular flight! We depart from our Helistar Flight Centre and head out over the famous Huka Falls, Craters of the Moon and the awesome Aratiatia Rapids. The flight also takes you over Mount Tauhara and includes a landing at Lake Rotokawa where you can get out and explore geothermal activity before heading back to the Helistar Flight Centre.

Heritage Trail - 45 minutes

This experience is well worth considering! You will begin your adventure over the Huka Falls and then a pass over the Craters of the Moon on your way to Lake Taupo’s Northern bays via the Maori Rock Carvings – a great photo opportunity. Fly inside the crater of Mount Tauhara before passing over the green waters of Lake Rotokawa where you will land and explore geothermal activity before heading back to the Helistar Flight Centre.

Mountain Magic - 90 minutes

A truly magical experience! This journey takes in Lake Taupo’s scenic spots on the way to Mount Ruapehu’s steaming Crater Lake, set amongst snow covered peaks. You will be able to photograph the stunning lava flows, glacial valleys and colourful volcanic formations that are only visible from the air. Enjoy an alpine landing in the Kaimanawa ranges before heading back up the shoreline of Lake Taupo on your way back to the Helistar Flight Centre.

Voyage - 120 minutes

The epic choice; a non-stop adventure flying over snow covered mountains, crystal clear rivers and wild horses in the Tongariro World Heritage Park. We will land beside a secluded mountain stream so that you can get out and take a peek at some trout before taking off again to make the journey to Ngauruhoe (Mount Doom in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy) and the Tongariro World Heritage Park.

Heli-Wine and Cheese Combo - Approx 75 minutes

Your helicopter will navigate Lake Taupo's towering cliffs en-route to the hidden paradise of Omori Estate. Enjoy a tasting and a guided stroll in this unique location next to beautiful Lake Taupo. Relax over a platter of warm breads and cheese, whilst enjoying the views and serenity of Omori Estate. As part of your package you'll receive a bottle of Omori Estate wine and olive oil. Return Helicopter flight, or alternative return options available if more time enjoying the sunshine is required.
