Mixing adrenaline and culture would seem like an impossible task but Kaitiaki show respect to local Iwi (people of the land) and give their clients an initiation into Aspects Maori. Our guides (All NZQA qualified) not only provide a culturally immersed river trip but with the addition of local area knowledge, history and satisfaction for all kinds of white water enthusiasts, our clients get the ‘total experience’.

We raft and sledge the many waterways surrounding Rotorua, including; The Kaituna River – which has the highest commercially rafted waterfall in the world. The Wairoa River – operational only 26 days per year on scheduled Sundays and the new lower section of the Kaituna River exclusive only to Kaitiaki Adventures.

Sledging is performed individually with a White Water Sledging qualified guide to assist you where necessary. You will take the river on at eye level as you manoeuvre your way through the white water whilst propelling yourself with flippers your feet. This is the ultimate in white water action. No prior experience is required on any of the experiences we offer as full training and equipment of the highest quality is supplied to all our customers.
